Dr. Victor mainly provide therapy based on Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) but psychoeducation, skills training and education on relaxation strategies will also be offered during the course.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, time-limited, and goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify, question, and change their thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs related to emotional and behavioral difficulties. CBT focuses on how thoughts influence feelings and actions, teaching coping skills to manage various mental health issues.

CBT is commonly used for treatment of adjustment disorder, major depression, anxiety and phobia. It is also beneficial to patients many other mental health conditions but usually need to accompanied with other psychotherapy techniques and/or medical treatment.

You will be assessed and if you are considered to be more suitable to be seen by other practitioners, e.g. a clinical psychologist. You will be given proper advice about that.

Treatment duration depends on the complexity of problem but 8 to 12 sessions are usually the minimum expected.

Dr. Lau will provided the first 6 sessions fully bulk billed for a particular patient (N.B. NOT 6 sessions every year). For subsequent sessions, there will be a gap fee on top of your medicare rebate. Children under age of 16 years old and concession card holders are bulk billed.

Acupuncture is a safe procedure. Serious complications are rare, less than one in 10000 treatments.
Acupuncture can cause side effects. Small number of patient may experience drowsiness following acupuncture treatment. If this happens, you are recommended against driving.
3% of people may experience minor bleeding or bruising. There is 1% chance that you may experience pain during the treatment.
Less than 3% of patient may experience exaggeration of symptoms initially following acupuncture. However, it is usually a sign of responding of treatment.
Fainting sometimes happens, particularly at the first treatment.

Number of treatments vary a lot. However, in general, fewer sessions are needed for acute conditions. The more chronic it is, the longer it takes to treat. And it is only a means of symptomatic control instead of cure for many conditions. 

It is a private services with rebate from Medicare. The first session involves thorough assessment and the fee will be higher than the subsequent treatments. For concession holders, there will be a flat gap fee of AUD25 for each session of treatment.
